Mediterranean and similar patterns consistently show longevity benefits: abundant vegetables, fruits, whole grains, legumes, nuts, olive oil, moderate fish, limited red meat. These diets are rich in polyphenols, omega-3 fatty acids, and fiber while being low in processed foods and added sugars.

Caloric restriction and time-restricted eating activate longevity pathways like AMPK and sirtuins while reducing IGF-1 and mTOR signaling—switches that balance growth versus repair. Think of this as planned maintenance shutdowns for your city, allowing deep cleaning and repairs impossible during constant operation.

Protein intake becomes increasingly important with age to prevent muscle loss. Aim for 1.2-1.6 g/kg body weight daily, distributed across meals to optimize muscle protein synthesis.

Micronutrients often overlooked include vitamin D (immune function, bone health), B vitamins (cognitive function, methylation), magnesium (over 300 enzymatic reactions), and omega-3s (inflammation, brain health).
